Black & White photography from the Tibetan Plateau.

Portraits and landscapes taken over two years production and filming, travelling North from Kunming on the Old Silk Road trail, rising in altitude from 6,000 feet to 15,500 feet. A journey of +2,000km seeking to find village communities, mountain landscapes and nomads for the film's narrative storyline.

The gallery exhibition allows the viewer to experience the beauty of village life, witnessing the glorious principles of Tibetan culture, sharing space and time with the families amongst the Highland barley, amidst dramatic mountain ranges of the Himalayan foothills and alpine ranges across the Tibetan Plateau.

My journey to the rooftop of the world revealed the best of humankind to me. In trying to capture the moments of beauty in a still frame, I found a deeper understanding about our inter-connected spirit, a realisation that we are bound together by our fragile, mighty hearts and ultimately, that we are all a reflection of ourselves in this hyper adventure called life. An incredible experience that has never left me.

“A Documentary Road Movie as a Fine Art Photography book.”

From a thousand film negatives, photographed with his Nikon FM2 & Mamiya 645, Noel has assembled a book that depicts his journey onto the Tibetan Plateau. Spiritually & physically documenting the influences that flow from the ancient Buddhist source of Litang County, where his journey ended at his highest point. This 196-page publication exists as a reminder of the power of cultural community, compassion, wisdom and truth. Profits from print sales from his exhibition and this website, shall go toward publication of this book and also onto the Tibet Relief Fund.
